Patient Information

Due to the complexity of open fracture surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we found patients weren't fully aware of the procedure involved and the rehabilitation process. This patient information booklet illustrates the variety of surgical procedures and provides the patient with knowledge of what to expect during and after surgery to aid recovery.

Open fractures tend to be very graphic and because of this we decided to use basic line and tint medical illustrations to illustrate the surgical procedures. The use of simple medical illustrations in patient information provides a graphical representation to which patients are able to obtain, process, and understand their surgery and rehabilitation care.

All patient information within the Trust follows corporate branding. We use a lot of white space and the use of color to separate the relevant information to make it easier to read and more accessible.
