Thought process: trees; growing; journey through life; historic; squares and parks; green places and movement.
I took the architect's vision of a prototype school which was very angular and played on the square shapes while incorporating a sense of movement throughout the project.
Thought process: Construction; building; growth; from the ground up; children; elementary years; plans and development.
This was a design/build project and I wanted to emphasis this. The 'design' is represented by paper and plans. The 'build' was represented by a crane and lifting the plans up from the ground. I used an old floorplan from a previous project. I incorporated images from previous schools/classroom and stock imagery of children.
Thought process: Architectural/engineering; schools; building; development; design; roads; transportation; traveling; movement and buses
This was an architectural/engineering design project and I wanted to emphasis this. I wanted to convey the process from design to the end result. The 'design' is represented by the plans; a line drawing from an actual building from a previous project. I sketched the outline and half filled it in with color. I wanted the bus to be half sketch and half photographic. The end result will be school buses leaving the proposed building and out onto the road.
Thought process: Design/build project; navy; military; force; power; hard edges; buildings; grunge; armed; aircraft; warships; family; equals; battle and order. The list kept getting longer and longer but I had to stop!
This was a design/build project for ongoing services. I had to represent all of the services that BRPH could provide and benefit the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC). BRPH has a long history designing for the military so I had a lot of resources to pull from. I showed examples of: specialist buildings/hangars; corporate environments; retail interior spaces; classroom/worshops and warehouses.
